Frictional connection

The frictional connection, also called traction, denotes the fixed connection of individual components of an assembly without further connecting elements or adhesion-increasing agents such as glues. Only the static friction of the active surfaces creates a self-locking effect that is extensive enough to hold the components in place. More precisely, tangential forces, also frictional forces, counteract the displacement forces that are generated when the components are tensioned on the active surfaces. This ensures the frictional connection of the components of the assembly as long as the force exerted by static friction is greater than the tangential load force.
