Thermal conductivity

The thermal conductivity of a material describes its ability to transport heat by means of heat conduction. However, this characteristic value is not only dependent on the material, but also on its structure and therefore on its composition, crystal structure and any porosity. Thermal conductivity is determined in different ways and depends on the material and purpose. This is because, with refractory materials in particular, the specification of the thermal conductivity depends on the operating temperature.
