Elastomers
Elastomers are plastics or polymers that have a wide-meshed cross-linked structure and are therefore very pliable. Elastomers include all types of cross-linked rubbers. The individual components are cross-linked by vulcanisation with sulphur, with the help of peroxides, metal oxides or radiation. Since they do not soften when heated and are also insoluble in most solvents, they’re often used for items such as hygiene products or chemical gloves. By far the largest sales market is the tire industry..
