Density

The density of a material is defined as the quotient from the mass of a body in relation to its volume. Density is an intense quantity: this means that it’s only determined by the material and is independent of the size and shape of a workpiece. In simple terms, the density of a material decides whether an object is light or heavy for the corresponding size. The density of a material therefore has a direct influence on the mass of the workpiece.
